Senior Chief Engineer - Hi-Speed

We have an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Senior Chief Engineer - Hi Speed to join our Operation.    Overall Purpose of the Job: To be responsible to the Technical Superintendent (Hi Speed) for the day to day management and technical operation of the Hi-Speed craft to ensure safe, compliant and efficient High Speed Vessels. This includes overseeing the day to day operational duties of the Hi Speed mechanics during maintenance and repairs. Contributing to refit specifications, budgeting (annual and CAPEX), survey schedules, on board general assessment and inspection of vessels. To ensure that the DNV PMS is used to its full potential in the delivery of all technical maintenance, repairs and record keeping. To liaise with the Technical Storekeeper to ensure adequate levels of stock are maintained and in a suitable condition. To deputise for the Technical Superintendent as required.    Working Conditions: Based at Terminal 2 , Southampton with a requirement to attend docking location during ship’s refit of ship.    Qualifications / Education Required:  STCW95 III/2 Class 4 Engineer Officer Certificate of Competence (or equivalent)    Experience Required:  Relevant sea-going experience, preferably in a managerial position.  Shore based managerial experience and advantage.  Leadership experience, preferably in the marine industry  Refit experience an advantage  Knowledge in MTU series 2000 engines    Competencies Required for Role:  Creating and Maintaining a maintenance plan for the organisation’s equipment  Technical understanding of electrical, mechanic and hydraulic systems for planning and troubleshooting  Maintaining vessels, tools and equipment required to perform the role effectively Producing technical documents that the company requires  Discussing maintenance concerns with the employer and communicating these to engineering team  Keeping a record of preventive and emergency maintenance carried out  Creating maintenance schedules and delegating tasks to team members

Engineer Officer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Officer on a fixed term full time basis. You’ll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of propulsion and auxiliary machinery, together with all technical on-board systems. Other duties will include the maintenance of galley and passenger services equipment, fabric maintenance of machinery spaces and receipt of fuel oil and lubricating oil bunkers. In addition, you’ll be expected to assist the deck crew with the operation of the hydraulic equipment associated with loading practices.   You will on occasion be required to relieve Chief Engineers when they are on leave. You will require an ENG1 and need a minimum of an STCW95 EOOW certificate with recent seagoing experience, and should have a good working knowledge of the maintenance requirements of medium speed diesels and their associated electro-hydraulic systems, as well as a working knowledge of computer systems.   You must also be able diagnose and rectify faults in a wide range of machinery, including propulsion systems. Good communication skills are paramount as are excellent written and verbal skills. Hours are based on a 41 per week, working on a rostered shift system covering a 22-hour operation, over 7 days a week. Accommodation isn’t available on-board so it’s key that you reside a commutable distance from our Southampton terminals.

Hi-Speed Cabin Attendant

We are currently looking for a Cabin Attendant to join our Hi-Speed passenger service team on a permanent basis. Working under the guidance and instruction of the Passenger Operations Manager and Marine Commanders, you’ll be a part of a small but unique team based on board our Red Jet catamaran vessels, with one of the most beautiful backdrops in the world attending to the needs of our passengers and primarily taking care of their safety. Talent Attraction and Development Specialist (MAT leave cover)

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Talent Attraction and Development Specialist to join our HR team on an a 1 year fixed term (maternity cover) basis. This role is critical in attracting, hiring, and nurturing top talent to drive our organisation’s success. You will lead both the HR team's talent attraction and development efforts, ensuring we build resilience into our operation through people opportunities and support their growth throughout the colleague life cycle with us here at Red Funnel. This dual focus will help us meet both our immediate recruitment needs as well as more long-term talent development objectives.   Main Duties: Manage all talent attraction processes to ensure that we provide internal and external candidates with a consistently fair and inclusive recruitment process. Collaborate with the Marketing team to optimise talent attraction processes i.e. use of social media etc. Ensure colleague benefits are fully showcased and all new starters are given clear communication and access to them as relevant. Design and support the wider HR team for all onboarding and induction initiatives that integrate new colleagues seamlessly into the organisation - giving them the right start to their career with Red Funnel. Conduct regular audits and talent reviews using the Talent and LMS systems to ensure all colleagues have a development plan, receive regular feedback and high-potential performers are identified. Work alongside the Risk, Safety and Compliance team to ensure accurate reporting of all mandatory training at all times and support with various company audits as the LMS and Talent superuser. Collaborate with Heads of Departments to support with all areas of talent development; building departmental resilience by identifying opportunities for succession planning as well as wider internal development. Work with the wider HR team to co-ordinate and deliver effective training interventions that align with organisational goals and consistently evaluate effectiveness to identify areas of opportunity and improvement. Prepare, monitor and control the training budget ensuring it is utilised in the most cost-effective manner as well as preparing monthly board reports to the HR Director covering Talent Attraction and Development. Support with the creation of colleague feedback surveys as well as reviewing leaver questionnaires and other colleague touch points to make recommendations for improvement. Consistently review internal and system processes and look for continuous improvement opportunities.   Working Conditions: The role is based on a Monday to Friday work pattern. The role is based at Head Office in Southampton. There is the opportunity to participate in hybrid working or at other locations across the business.   Knowledge / Experience Required: Experience in HR or L&D in a corporate environment is desirable. Experience in developing talent with a right person, right place mentality. Great people skills being able to communicate, influence and collaborate at all levels. Proven ability to analyse data and make data driven decisions. Proficient in the use of HRIS and other relevant systems.
